Raise your hand if you spent the late 90’s with posters of The Backstreet Boys taped all over your walls (sorry, Mom!).
We also spent countless hours listening to songs like “I Want It That Way,” “Quit Playing Games With My Heart,” and “As Long As You Love Me,” daydreaming of what it would be like to marry someone as romantic as AJ, Brian, Howie, Nick, or Kevin.
Well, the boys are back and their most recent music video shows they still know their fanbase. Gone are the videos of choreographed dances and haunted houses (though, “Backstreet’s Back” will always be a favorite). Their video for “No Place” features them as grown-ups with their wives and kids. Fans everywhere are, once again, swooning.
The new single still features the timeless five-part harmonies of their early careers and the lyrics still have a sense of romance that will give anyone butterflies. However, “No Place” is about all the places the guys have been over the last 20+ years (feel old yet?) and how no place is as great as at home with family.
The entire video is shot on five separate sets – the guys’ homes.
Howie is with his wife and two kids on a playground, Nick is at home with his wife and son, Brian is shooting hoops, playing pool, and cooking with his family, Kevin is enjoying the great outdoors with his wife and kids, and AJ is at home with his wife and two adorable girls (complete in pretty pink dresses).
Fans everywhere are loving the video. This is the first time the guys have shown how they’ve matured and aged over time, rather than trying to market themselves to younger generations. One fan commented, “I think there is something special about seeing them age, grow, and start families. Really opening up to the world. I tip my hat good sirs!” and another said, “They’re not flashing trophy wives or cars… they’re just being real… Nice to see their families, and they’re still singing 20+ years later.”
The video is so popular, in fact, that is has been viewed over 3 million times since it was published on January 3rd! The guys are proving they still have what it takes to make a great song and truly connect with their fans.
